| Programme description | The objective of the programme is to provide the student with: - A reading of Ibsen?s oeuvre, with emphasis on biographical, historical and aesthetic perspectives - The reception and adaptation history of Ibsen?s oeuvre; in literature, on the stage and in new media - The development of the modern western drama, with Ibsen?s dramatic form as the backdrop; The programme provides a foundation for further research on Ibsen and for those interested in an academic career. It also offers non-vocational training for teaching, performing and propagating Ibsen?s works, including the aspect of cultural administration. The Library at The Centre for Ibsen Studies contains the most comprehensive collection in the world of books and other materials on Ibsen. Our librarians administer The International Ibsen Bibliography. The aim is also to strengthen and coordinate research on Ibsen, nationally and internationally, by hosting international scholars and offering conferences and series of lectures on a regular basis. Designed primarily for foreign students, the programme is open also to Norwegians. |

| Formal prerequisites |
The Master's Degree is based on a successfully completed Bachelor's Degree of at least 3 years' duration beyond the minimum requirements for matriculation at a Norwegian institution of higher education. The degree should normally include one of the following fields: Theatre Studies, Nordic/ Scandinavian Studies, Literary and Linguistic Studies, Comparative Literature, Media Studies. ; English Language Proficiency Requirements.
