Programme description The Master's Degree Programme in Geosciences encompasses a broad specter of specializations within geology, physical geography, hydrology, geophysics, geomatics and meteorology/oceanography. You will learn more about the earth's structure, natural resources and natural environments, relationships between endogen and exogen processes, and the impact of human activiy and climate change on the natural environment. During the Master's programme in geosciences you will specialize in the different disciplines mentioned above. Depending on your specialization you will learn to work with and analyse different scientific and applied problems, which demands field work, laboratory work and advanced modelling utilising modern computer technology. The Master's programme has close co-operations with a range of external institutions and private companies, like the Norwegian Water Directorate, The Norwegian Geological Survey, the Meteorological Institute, the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, The Norwegian Polar Institute, Research institutions on Svalbard (UNIS), Jordforsk, CICERO, NIJOS, NORSAR, NIVA, Statoil, Hydro and others. The Master's programme also co-operates closely with Norwegian Centres of Excellence, like the International Center of Geohazard (ICG).

Formal prerequisites The Master's Degree is based on a successfully completed Bachelor's Degree, with a major in the natural sciences, of at least 3 years' duration beyond the minimum requirements for matriculation at a Norwegian institution of higher education.
