MSc / MTECH IN MEDIA TECHNOLOGY
Today’s rich media environment provides unique opportunities for creative and effective communication of an organizations goals or between a company and its customers. A MSc in Media Technology will provide you with the knowledge and the needed theoretical bases and practical knowledge to efficiently use or even improve the available media technology tools and systems. The programme will give you experience in using the technology and tools utilized for producing, storing and distributing digital media. In addition, you will develop knowledge of important factors such as user interface and ergonomics, and media management and business development. Graduates will be qualified to work in the internet application and software development business, in graphic arts businesses, publishing firms and media companies, or in any enterprise that uses digital media, tools and systems. Subjects year 1: Coding and compression of media data, Digital Workflow, User centered design, XML and web-technologies, Media management and business development, Image processing and analysis, Databases in electronic publishing, Color science, Electives Subjects year 2: Research project planning, Content-based indexing and retrieval, Data analysis and statistics, advanced courses, advanced project work, electives, Master´s thesis The Laboratories: All students have access to up-to-date media and research laboratories for working with images, sound and video. The Media Technology Laboratory’s faculty, researchers, and students offer courses and research opportunities in all area crucial for design and communication using advances media technology. The Norwegian Color Research laboratory, consisting of professors, scientists and research students, provides a rich environment with outstanding international expertise in color imaging. |

| Formal prerequisites | To qualify for admission to the MSc in Media Technology, applicants must have a 3-year undergraduate degree, preferably a Bachelor's degree in computer science, graphic arts engineering or media technology. In addition, the applicants must document that they have at least 60 ECTS credits in information technology / computing subjects (of which at least 10 ECTS credits in databases, data modelling, and/or information modelling) and at least 10 ECTS credits in mathematics. | Application procedures | Oppland Municipality scholarship programme: Candidates have to have completed at least a BA degree, or still be registered as a student at one of GUCs partner institutions in Europe, Asia, Africa, North- or South America to be eligible for this scholarship.
