| Programme description | Community work is a planned process where one or more professionals assist an interest group or a local community to utilise their own resources in order to reach aims set by them. People are seen as agentic actors who can improve their possibilities for social participation. Through collective action, communities develop. The Master’s programme qualifies students for inter alia field work, educational positions and research. 60 ECTS is comprised of contemporary social theories, science theories and theoretical and practical tools for community work and of the philosophy of social sciences and research methods. The second 60 ECTS is comprised of the Master’s thesis. |

| Formal prerequisites | 3 years of higher education (Bachelors degree, min. grade C, or similar) with no less than 80 ECTS from the social sciences. Bachelor degrees from pedagogical subjects, correctional services subjects, health subjects or social subjects are also valid. |
