Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering
Study at The University of Stavanger
Our vision is “to challenge established facts, explore the unknown, gain insight and find wisdom, to benefit society at large and our students and staff.”
In order to realise this vision, we need staff, students and people around us who are curious and hungry for knowledge. We are convinced that a collective commitment to this ambitious vision will help us produce wiser individuals who will be better equipped to meet the future and everyday challenges.
UiS, like all Norwegian higher education institutions, has implemented measures dictated by the Quality Reform. The two main reasons for the reform are achieving improved quality in higher education and research and following up the Bologna's process and Norway's obligations in that regard.

| Programme description |
In a competitive world it is important to have all the advantages that come with higher education. Through our master's program in Petroleum Engineering students will combine the importance of strong theoretical comprehension with practical tools at an expert level. Students can use the Faculty's close contacts with the oil industry in their research, focusing on current challenges facing local engineers. Our program is designed for a mixture of Norwegian and foreign students, and the Norwegian equivalent of a MSc has been offered since 1977. The Master programme will prepare the students for a career in the international oil industry as well as provide a sufficient basis for doctoral studies and the pursuit of an academic career in education and research. In addition to our academic program, students enjoy a broad range of social and cultural activities in Stavanger. |
