Civil and Structural Engineering, Master's Programme

The study programme is only open for EU/EEA applicants.

A bachelor's programme alone will not cover all the expertise demanded by the job market. With a master’s degree in civil and constructional engineering you will be better prepared for the needs and changes in the job market. The civil and constructional engineering programme have two specialications, structural engineering and environmental engineering. You will be capable of finding new and more environmentally friendly solutions and using new materials to improve the efficiency of building operations, both on land and offshore. Furthermore, the programme provides courses in urban planning, road construction, water and wastewater treatment. There is a demand for graduate civil engineers with this technical background, both from the industry and public administration. Frequent contact with the industry will be central part of the programme.

What do you learn?

The master's programme in civil and constructional engineering provides a solid foundation for analysing issues and challenges in executing large projects in construction engineering. Essential topics in the programme are steel constructions, composite materials and UHPC, life-cycle assessment, fatigue, foundation engineering, the finite element method, risk management and quality management. The programme provides a foundation for carrying out life-cycle assessments so that you can evaluate the environmental and economic consequences of constructions meant to last for longer time periods.
