Sustainable energy use in the future requires greater focus on electrical systems as energy carriers. Our master program is anchored in hydro power, which is the most effective form of renewable energy. Hydro power is also easy to regulate, which means that the social value of hydro power is higher than that of many other power sources.

Considerable challenges have arisen in the further development of the power grid in Norway and elsewhere through the introduction of unregulated energy production, such as small-scale production of hydro, wind and solar power.

Formal prerequisites A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronicals or Computer Science (related programmes may also be accepted)

- Mathematics at the level of Mathematics III (at TUC), or the equivalent
- Passed a bachelor course in Control Theory (Knowledge about Closed Control Loops and PID controllers) at minimum 5 credits
- Passed a bachelor course in Programming Language (minimum 5 credits)
- Passed a bachelor course in Electro/Electronics (Knowledge about resistors, capacitors, inductors and transistors) at minimum 10 credits
- English requirements.
- A cumulative grade point average equivalent to, or better than, a C in the ECTS system (we do the grade conversion).
