Mathematics and Physics

Mathematics and Physics form the basis for all technical and scientific research. These two subjects are an indispensable prerequisite for technological developments in modern society. In this program you will learn about modelling of mathematical and physical systems. Furthermore, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to synthesize appropriate mathematical concepts and methods in order to analyse and solve relevant problems.Competence in mathematics and physics are always in demand in industry, research and education - it qualifies for instance for research in material science, particle physics and cosmology as well as algebraic geometry, statistics and analysis, to mention a few areas only. These subjects will never be outdated or redundant, and society will always need good mathematicians and physicists.

Nordic and EU applicants with a Bachelor's degree outside of Norway: March 1

Local applicants with a Bachelor's degree from Norway: April 15

Formal prerequisites

A Bachelor's degree within one of the following disciplines is required:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics

Applicants with another Bachelor's degree may also be taken into consideration if they document in-depth extent of mathematics and physics courses.

All candidates normally have to document at least 120 ECTS credits in mathematics/physics .
