UNIVERSITY OF STAVANGER

Music Performance

Master Programme in Music Performance is strongly emphasising the performing aspect in the student. All subjects are ment to build the music student as a performer and a reflected artist in his own field. The programme is fit for both classical, jazz/impro and conducting students. Students will acquire broad expertise in musical performance as well as a theoretical framework for further research or for participation in musical life in society.   The teaching methods are a mix of individual lessons, ensemble/chamber music, as well as performing projects and theoretical tuition. The master project combines music performance and a reflecting presentation of the topic. In addition, the student has both theoretical and performing exams during the study.   The Department of Music and Dance provides a versatile and professional music and performing arts environment within a collegiate atmosphere where close contact between students and teachers is maintained.
