Petroleum Geosciences Engineering

Geosciences engineers participate in the search for energy resources, mitigating climate change, and developing relevant technologies in order to improve the well being of people and societies worldwide.   University of Stavanger is at the forefront of studies within the petroleum engineering- and geosciences field. MSc programme in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering, which is developed in close collaboration with the petroleum industry, is uniquely focused on the blending of geosciences and engineering for the specific needs of petroleum exploration and production.   The graduates will be qualified for a broad range of positions within the petroleum industry and other industries where both engineering and geosciences are applied.

Formal prerequisites

A Bachelor's degree in Geosciences or equivalent is required.

Applicants with a Bachelr's degree in geology and/or engineering degrees will also be considered if they document at least 40 ECTS credits in geosciences/geology/geophysics.

All applicants must have at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics/statistics/calculus.
