Sustainable Agriculture

Become an expert in sustainable agricultural production and contribute with your acquired skills to meet the following challenges and expectations of the global food production:

- Increasing the food production over time to feed a growing human population
- Maintaining and improving sufficient areas of productive land
- Avoiding environmental pollution from agriculture
- Contributing positively in the struggle against global warming
- Producing high quality food that will improve the health of the consumers
- Securing the primary producers good income and recognition in the society

The Master programme in Sustainable Agriculture will focus on the following main topics:

- relevant academic, professional and research ethical problems whitin appiled ecology and agricultural practices
- the environmental impacts of agricultural production
- knowledge of the history and traditions of the concept of sustainability as it is applied to agriculture, as well as the importance of agricultural sustainability to the society
- knowledge of innovative thinking and innovation processes within agriculture.

Formal prerequisites To enter the program, the students are required to have a bachelor's degree within agricultural or related sciences (e.g. agronomy, soil science, crop science, animal science, agricultural engineering, agricultural economics, forestry or wildlife management) and to confirm the achievement of either:

- A Norwegian bachelor degree, or an education recognized as being equivalent to a Norwegian bachelor degree
- An education recognized as three years of higher education in Norway
- Education approved as equivalent to the above-mentioned degrees according to University law ยง 3-4
