FORMER STUDENT
OF NORWAY:

What are the main reasons for choosing Norway as your study destination?

An important goal to me is the improvement of my personality as well as my ability of communication. From my point of view Norway is the perfect location to realize these goals, because of the open and helpful lifestyle. Especially for me it is a big challenge to live and study in a big city like Bergen, because I grew up in a rural region, which is a huge contrast to such a metropolis. Furthermore, Norway offers many possibilities to explore its intact and impressive nature. I am very close to nature, and interested in the country and the people. That’s why I would like to get to know more about the country-specific details.

Where do/did you study and why did you choose this institution?

I study in Bergen. The modern and professional equipped Bergen University College (HiB) has perfect study conditions. The excellent reputation of HiB is another reason why I prefer to study in Norway. In my opinion the study system in Norway is optimal for international students. The Academic Support and the University-wide student mentoring system are a great help. These factors make sure you are prepared for the final exams.

What was your idea about Norway before you arrived and did you find the impression to be true?

My ideas were to see a lot of the landscape, the culture, to learn English and meet new friends. And my ideas were exceeded. We take many trips, only speak English and I have met many new friends.

Compared to your country, what are the main differences when it comes to student life in Norway?

The main differences are the higher cost of living, and better equipment of the educational institution.

What is the most important academic outcome of your time as a student in Norway?

The most important academic outcome is to make my project work on a gas turbine.

Are there any personal experiences as a student in Norway you would highlight?

To see the breathtaking scenery, culture and to get to know people in Norway.

Would you recommend studying in Norway to students at your home university? Why/why not?

Yes, because there are very attractive and different courses of study. In addition, you will be well included, and if you have got a problem everyone will help you.

What are you doing now and what are your plans for the future?

I will complete my studies and after that I would like to work at a big automobile manufacturer.
